Far West Ski Association

Project Summary: FWSA will promote skin cancer prevention through encouraging the use of sunscreen and safe sun exposure habits starting when children are very young and continuing as a lifelong activity. FWSA will develop and distribute an informative brochure with educational information regarding skin cancer dangers and activities for skin cancer prevention for both children and adults along with ski equipment decals with the message Slip, Slop, Slide, Slither with Savvy Snake (Slip on your hat or helmet, Slop on some sunscreen, Slide on your sunglasses or goggles, and Slither into the Shade) at four ski shows and 2 ski resorts. In addition, organization members will participate in an online survey to test knowledge.

Protect Your Skin.... Be Sun-Safe on and off the Snow

Western Surfing Association

Project Summary: The WSA will promote sun safe practices at 10 surfing competitions through the distribution of educational materials and announcing multiple sun safe messages specifically targeting prevention for youth and screening for adults. This program will utilize the existing SCPP surfer brochure: Surfers – Block those Harmful UV Rays!, additional resources from the American Dermatological Association and donations from sunscreen companies. In addition online pre and post surveys will be implemented to WSA members to assess knowledge and impact of the program.

Sun SafeTee Program

Project Summary: The Sun SafeTee Program will be conducting Sun Protection Education seminars to golf staff, junior golfers, and at The Tiger Woods Learning Center. In addition, outreach will be conducted at 10 tournaments distributing Sun SafeTee Tips cards and sunscreen. The outreach will be evaluated through pre and post test to determine competitor’s knowledge.
