Project Summary: Saath will be hosting a continuing medical education (CME) program that targets South Asian community leaders and healthcare providers. The program will utilize COCAP's CME; Clinical Ovarian Cancer Detection: A Work in Progress as well as the resources at USC Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center. Attendees of the CME program will be given culturally appropriate educational materials to disseminate to South Asian women. In addition, a follow up will be done to determine participant's efforts to educate communities about ovarian cancer as well as intention to perform proper evaluation of high risk patients.

Project Summary: HWHA will conduct two ovarian cancer 101 presentations to Hmong women and modify two ovarian cancer educational materials for dissemination to the Hmong community. These educational pieces will be distributed to medical providers and clinics that treat a large number of Hmong clients as well as at Hmong social events, educational forums, and health fairs.

Project Summary: NOCC, Sac will produce a DVD in Cantonese (also produced in English and Spanish) that will promote survival strategies for newly diagnosed patients, their families and friends. This DVD will be an addition to a Resource Guide that is currently distributed to newly diagnosed women and their families. In addition, a portion of the footage from the DVD will be used to create a thirty second PSA. These materials will be distributed to applicable health care facilities and appropriate TV and radio stations with a specific distribution focus on reducing the cancer burden among the Chinese population.

Project Summary: OCAPICA will develop a culturally and linguistically appropriate outreach and education campaign which includes the development of print materials and community forums to the Thai and Vietnamese communities. Print materials to be developed include an ovarian health brochure as well as a women's health calendar to include ovarian health information.

Project Summary: WCAG will conduct a community outreach program (Hope, Health, and Awareness) targeting groups of professionals that are in personal contact with women on a daily basis (e.g. hairstylists and nurses). The program will include educational forums that will focus on symptom recognition and include ovarian cancer survivors and sharing their experiences. Participants in the program will be given educational materials to distribute to their clients, customers, or patients. In addition, a billboard will be displayed informing the public about the educational forums and the symptoms of ovarian cancer.

What to expect:

• Two cancer survivors will share their stories of hope with a focus on symptoms of ovarian cancer.
• You will receive information about how to find out about your cancer risk and what you can do to reduce it.
• We will show you a ten-minute DVD about Women’s Cancer Awareness Group programs and mission, featuring a special message from Pamela Torliatt, Mayor of Petaluma.
• We will ask you if you would like to take some information with you to share with your friends.

Project Summary: OCOCA will promote education and awareness of ovarian cancer through dissemination of Spanish signs and symptom cards and a print PSA in a Spanish language newspaper.
