2006 Stakeholder Meeting

The 2006 Stakeholders Meeting, drawing participants from across the state and leaders of health institutions, provided a forum to develop strategies and improve the CCCP's implementation. This meeting gave participants an opportunity to hear CDOC accomplishments and review the larger vision of the national comprehensive cancer control model.

After participants engaged in team discussion through breakout sessions, the entire group reconvened to present recommendations for strategies to address the key cancer issues confronting California's populations and to consider and incorporate these positions into current work plans. The strategies included fostering more collaboration with researchers and schools of public health, a creation of a cancer progress reports, using navigator programs to supplement access to quality cancer care, and the dissemination of national standards on pain management and palliative care.
